The word dump implies that it’s a place that is undesirable. Dumps are containers that are used to hold things that have been discarded, things that are no longer wanted and are viewed as having no value. If these things are not retrieved from the dump, they will eventually make it to a larger dump, the larger dump is called a landfill. The landfill is a place where the items are ground into the dirt and mixed in with other items that’s been discarded by different people. The items that have been discarded in the dump and made it to the landfill have found their forever resting place.
In this fast-paced world that currently exist, it may be a common space for individuals to experience bouts of sadness, loneliness, feelings of despair, anxiety or just have feelings of being down in the dumps. These emotions occur for various reasons and last for different periods of time. Most issues dissolve over a short period of time with no intervention and no lasting effects. Some issues may require intervention from a professional. If professional intervention is what is needed, it should be sought out as soon as possible. Whichever method is used to get out of the dumps, staying too long is not an option. Staying too long in that place may cause you to believe that you belong there. The longer you stay there, the more you may get comfortable with the feelings of being in the dump and the feelings will begin to get grounded in, just like at the landfill.
The bible speaks of being down in the dump, it reads in Psalm 42:5 “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, For the help of His countenance.” The scripture is a reminder that when an individual is feeling down in the dumps, they should put all of their hope and faith in God. The feelings of being down in the dump is no place for a human to find themselves. It is highly recommended that you find a happy place and stay as long as time allows. I Will, Will You?
