What do you think of when you hear the word redeem? According to Webster Dictionary the word redeem means to remove the obligation of, by payment. The word redeem Implies that there will be an exchange of something that holds value for something else. There are many things that one can redeem. Some of the things that an individual can redeem are coupons, redeem someone from an embarrassing conversation, situation or to be redeemed by God through the sacrifice of Christ.
The word coupon is most commonly associated with a monetary value which causes the reduction in the cost of something. Coupons are exchanged on a specific item for a reduced price or the full price of the item. To redeem someone from an embarrassing conversation or situation is to avoid putting the spotlight on something that was done or said for which could be an innocent mistake. Being redeemed from an embarrassing conversation or situation means to not publicly place blame, and to excuse the person quickly without them having to ask for forgiveness. To be redeemed by God through the sacrifice of Christ for the sins that an individual has committed, means that Christ exchanges his righteousness for the sins of those that believe and follow him.
The bible is clear about the redemption provided by God through the sacrifice of Christ, it reads in Titus 2:14 “who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” The bible also reads in Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” The scriptures confirm the extend that God through the sacrifice of Christ, will go for those that believe in him and have chosen to follow him. The bible confirms the price that God through the sacrifice of Christ has paid for his believers, and it provides assurance to them that they are redeemed because of the exchange that God through the sacrifice of Christ has made.
If given the chance to help others, be the one that is the redeemer. I Will, Will You?
