The word first indicates that it’s something that comes before anything else. The word choice means something that is selected or chosen. When first and choice are combined, the two words become First Choice. The two words combined appears to strengthen the meaning, to indicate that something is the first choice. When multiple choices are available and an individual is faced with the task of selecting from those choices, it is not uncommon for the choices to be ranked in order of preference. The preference then becomes the first choice.
There are many things that can be the first choice, like being the first choice out of other applicants for a job selection, first choice when it comes to choosing a house to purchase for a home, brides generally have a dress in mind for their first choice for a wedding dress or first choice in a romantic relationship. Being the first choice for a job selection would mean that the candidate is more qualified than the other applicants. Having a house in mind for the first choice to purchase would mean that the potential homebuyers have a preference over one house versus the other houses that they have viewed. New brides are generally firm about their interest and preference when it comes to the dress that they want to wear when they walk down the aisle on their wedding day. Romantic relationships are a lot like the other topics previously mentioned, being the first choice in a relationship would mean that the one being courted, pursued by a suiter, and chosen, for a romantic relationship is the first choice.
One might wonder is it possible to be someone’s first choice? If the possibility exists to be someone’s first choice, then, how do you become their first choice? In the bible we are told that we were chosen first, it reads in John 15:16: You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. Being that God is God it is possible to have many first choices. God chose us first, before anyone else had the opportunity to choose us. Being chosen first by Christ means that we were his first choice. It is possible for Christ to have many and multiple first choices. He loves many and all in the same way. When doubt tries to set in and cause you to wonder if you are ever going to be the first choice, remember that in the eyes of Christ you are the first choice. I Will, Will You?
